Experience
The only one of its kind in India, 'cups that cheer' is a gourmet tea tasting experience that takes you through the nuances of tea and helps one appreciate the myriad colours and flavours of the worlds most popular beverage. The tasting focuses on specialty teas from the Nilgiris and helps one understand how each of the teas are made from the time the leaves are harvest right through to the final brew followed by a sampling of some of the worlds finest teas.

Tour 2- A Train’s Tale

Nilgiri Mountain Railway

Description
A railway in the Nilgiris that relies on its fleet of steam locomotives, accredited by unesco. It remains much as it was at the time of its completion in September 1908.The train runs on a Swiss rack system between Kallar and Coonoor, since it is the steepest rail road in all of Asia.

Experience

For more than a century, this train has chugged its way along a pretty and picturesque terrain. Along its course, the Nilgiris mountain railway passes through 16 intensely dark tunnels and is a true sensory treat offering its passengers jaw-dropping views of crystal-clear cascades, cliffs, tea estates and forests.

Guests at kurumba and tea nest can partake of this experience from Coonoor to Mettupalayam.

The journey starts at 15:15 and ends at 17:35 hrs.

TOUR 3 –Coonoor Charms

Not far from Kurumba, a winding 30 minutes’ drive lies the quaint town of Coonoor and a 5 minute drive from tea nest. Touted as the second largest hill station in the Nilgiris that is particularly famous for its carpet-like tea estates and tea auctioning too, guests at Kurumba and tea nest can spend half a day – 4 hours and thirty minutes, to be precise – lounging around here.

Lamb’s Rock

Description
A picnic spot that is named in memory of captain lamb, who walked an extra mile to literally create a path to this spot that is nearly 6 kms from coonoor.

Dolphin’s Nose

Spice Plantation Tour (held at the resort)

Description
This educative and aromatic tour along with the resort employees is all about soaking in sights, smells and sounds.

Experience

A trip to the forest kick starts this tour that lets you admire the flora and fauna. On your return to the resort that is amidst a serene spice plantation, you’re guided on a spice trek where the focus is on the growing, harvesting and maintaining of spices likes nutmegs, cloves and pepper creepers that grow in abundance in and around this valley.

  • Strictly obey instructor’s instructions to avoid accidents
  • Avoid trekking if you have heart ailments, are asthmatic or suffer from vertigo
